The Ugly, Update - 23.07.16

Section Leader Crysos Morturg

My Morturg conversion made from of the 2015 Forge World event models. Replaced the arms with a combi-flamer and a power sword from the Calth set. Decided to paint the the backpack on the base as a word bearer's due to my partner's army choice. Just got a load of new models in for the force, so I am going to get back to working hard on them!

The Ugly, Update - 10.07.16

First Squad done, for the most part...

First Squad of Tactical marines ready for the table! Had a lot of fun painting up the first unit for my Death Guard Legion. Used a few new techniques such as the paint chipping effect and the light wash, which I don't normally use on my models.
I used this Cataphractii Terminator squad to test out my paint scheme because I knew if I  didn't like the way they came out I wouldn't of wasted a unit that was to go into my army list. But i was really pleased with how they came out so i transferred that scheme onto the tactical squad.

I still have a few things to do for the squad. I'm currently waiting for Forge World to release the Power Scythes, which I am hoping to pick up at the open day this coming Sunday so I can equip my sergeant, along with some transfers. I also need to pick up the command upgrade set to finish off my Vox.

The Good, Update - 01.07.16

First steps are baby steps

Having decided on the army and figuring out a list that I was happy with, the next step is what I find one of the most enjoyable in the hobby; building some model goodness. And so here is my (nearly fully built) 20 man tactical squad, because lets not run before we can walk. Nearly finished due to the Sergeant on the far right missing his Phoenix power spear (which I'm hoping to be able to pick up in a few weeks from forge world), also the marine in the far right is not a mistake... yes he is missing a head... and also a backpack, but this is because this shall be my squads Vox and so am waiting on the head and backpack from the upgrade kit.

These models were assembled using the betrayal of Calth tactical marines kits and also the emperors children upgrade packs.
- As a side note, my sergeant has the ploom and a helmet as opposed the the helmet-less head because I'm not a fan of the helmet-less heads.
I'm really looking forward on getting these guys sprayed up (I'm planning on using army painter purple primer to speed up the painting process) and beginning painting. I may at some point upload a stage by stage tutorial on painting the marines but I will see nearer the time.
